Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy Approach
Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy was developed by Virginia Satir and is a method to facilitate people in achieving their maximum capacity by being congruent, leading to one expressing more positively and freely. Being so would enhance their communication and the quality of relationships.
The techniques are interactive and intrapsychic as such it is experiential. Clients are invited with gentleness and encouragement to understand their beliefs, ways of coping, emotions, expectations, perception and yearnings.
This process is done using the metaphor of the ice-berg. On achieving understanding and acceptance of oneself, one has the freedom of choice as to what one wants to develop one’s inner self. It aims one to reach into their inner resources and wisdom to live in the present satisfactorily.
In therapy the focus is on healing relationships, communication and positive directional in strengthening each inner self to become one’s own choice maker and to build healthier connections with family members and significant others.
Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy is used in individuals, couples, families therapy, group works, organisational team building, coaching for assertiveness and cyber-counselling.
